Gun Muzzle Blast and Structural Loadings

 

This movie comes from a study to assess the structural strengthening needed to protect a building from blast from a large gun firing. We provided calculated loadings on the building from both 2d (as shown) and 3d calculations and considered a range of blast mitigation options.

Note that there are multiple waves emanating from the gun muzzle. This gives a complex loading history on the building (the lines on the movie show the cross section of a low outbuilding attached to a larger rectangular building). Distances are in metres.
