FGE has developed and used many plume characterisation programs over the years, these range from fast engineering codes based on semi-empirical methods and methods of characteristics (JETWAKE, MOC) through to full 3D thermo-chemical nonequilibrium Navier Stokes based on FGE's TINA code (TINA-C,TINA-N) with two phase particulate chemistry. Other codes cater for high altitude plumes (HALTPP) or non-equilibrium/equilibrium/frozen chemistry and use a variety of solution schemes such as Van-Leer, and PNS methods (PLUME, FNC1&2D).
